Why Thermal Paste Matters More Than You Think

Thermal paste might not look like much, but it's one of the most important substances in your entire computer. Here's why it matters and when you should replace it.

What Does Thermal Paste Actually Do?

Your CPU and its cooler might look flat and smooth, but at a microscopic level, they're full of tiny imperfections. Thermal paste fills these microscopic gaps, creating a much better path for heat to travel from your CPU to the cooler.

When Should You Replace It?

Most thermal pastes last 3-5 years before they start to dry out and lose effectiveness. Signs that yours needs replacing include:

  • Higher than normal CPU temperatures
  • Temperatures that have gradually increased over time
  • Your PC is more than 3 years old and has never had it replaced

Can You Do It Yourself?

Absolutely! But if you're not comfortable taking apart your computer, our Deep Clean and Ultimate Care services include thermal paste replacement as standard. We use high-quality paste and apply it with precision.

A fresh application of thermal paste can drop your CPU temperatures by 5-15°C — that's a massive difference!
